Changzhou inauguration of Saint-Gobain’s first Multi-Comfort House in China

2016-04-11

On April 8, the grand opening of Saint-Gobain’s first Multi-Comfort House in China was held in Changzhou, Jiangsu province with the attendance of Pierre-Andre de Chalendar, Chairman and CEO of Saint-Gobain Group, Javier Gimeno, General Delegate for Saint-Gobain APAC, Xiaoping Li, Deputy Mayor of Changzhou and several local authorities of Changzhou and Wujin district.

Saint-Gobain Multi-Comfort House will function as a demonstration and inspiration to green building communities in China. The project sets a global benchmark for the next generation of sustainable habitat by integrating thermal, visual, acoustic comfort and indoor air quality into one building to make it more comfortable and healthier. Visitors, no matter building professionals or the general public, will have a first-hand experience at how living, working and commercial space can perfectly achieve multi-comfort using existing solutions available on the market.

Also, the designed energy consumption of the 800-square-meter building is 34kWh/m²/year (Energy Saving Rate of 85%), 1/4 of the national standard, which is equivalent to 130 kWh/m²/year (Energy Saving Rate of 50%). In addition to the high-energy performance, materials used for the construction of the house tend to minimize any environmental impact from their manufacture through to their end-of-life.

Globally, 22 Multi-Comfort Houses have been built in France and some other countries in Europe, in the United States and in China now.
