In order to support its growth in China and Asia, Saint-Gobain has decided to add a new piece to its network of Research & Development Centers: Saint-Gobain Research (Shanghai) Co. Ltd. will be the first R.&D. Center of the Saint-Gobain Group in Asia, located in the Minhang Development Zone at the heart of its Shanghai industrial complex, neighbouring 6 of our plants involved in Performance Plastics, Glass for Automotive, Abrasives and Ceramics. By its size and by the diversity of the Saint-Gobain businesses which will be represented, this Center will belong to the top 5 R.&D. Centers of Saint-Gobain. Within few years we plan to build a team of up to 300 members working for three industrial Sectors of Saint-Gobain: High Performance Materials, Flat Glass & Building Materials. Mirroring the extraordinary richness of Saint-Gobain technology, this Center will host scientists in almost all advanced material sciences from ceramics to polymers, glass to iron cast, crystals to abrasives, inorganic grains & powders to refractories… Disciplines as diverse as chemical engineering, mechanical engineering, computer modelling, ceramic or polymer engineering, grinding technology, coatings engineering will be broadly represented. Along with its brother Centers in Europe and North America, Saint-Gobain Research (Shanghai) Co. Ltd. will make possible Saint-Gobain’s ambition: Technology and Innovation worldwide!
