Saint-Gobain Foundation sponsored SYB project in China

On 9th Nov. 2018, Saint-Gobain was invited to Shanghai Young Bakers (SYB) New Baking Centre Inauguration Ceremony, as the major sponsor of this renovation project.

SYB is a charity program founded in Shanghai by several French 10 years ago, the founders believe that: “Give an orphan some bread, you feed him for the day; Teach him how to bake, you feed him for a lifetime!” Based on this principle, SYB provides to underprivileged Chinese youth with a one-year free of charge premium French bakery and Chinese pastry training which helps to integrate them into the society after their graduation. Over the past 10 years, more than 300 Chinese young people have been benefited from this project.  

SYB renovated its baking centre during July and August after 7 years of service, to welcome the new batch of trainees. Saint-Gobain Foundation, as the major sponsor, supported this renovation project.

Javier GIMENO, CEO of Saint-Gobain in APAC and Axel CRAU, General Consul of France in Shanghai attended the inauguration ceremony together with other contributors, sponsors and the trainees of the new term. They both conveyed their gratitude to all the teams, volunteers and sponsors who made this project a full success, in particularly SYB team’s great contribution to the local community.
